Statistics Minor

Body

The minor, administered by the Department of Statistics, is designed to provide students with an understanding of the concepts of statistical inference and a familiarity with the methods of applied statistical analysis. A minor in statistics will assist students with their major field of study to better prepare them for a career in their chosen field. It will also prepare students to for graduate studies in statistics or in one of many areas where data analysis plays an important role.

All University of Illinois undergraduate students are eligible to earn the Minor in Statistics, except for those enrolled in the Statistics or Stat & Computer Science majors.

Title
Prerequisites
Body

To complete all required courses in the Statistics minor, students will need to take calculus through at least MATH 231. Prerequisites for all minor courses should be followed as written in the Course Explorer.

Title
Registration
Body

Due to the continued growth of the department and high demand of Statistics courses, many of course offerings hold major restrictions to ensure the highest priority to our majors. Pursuing a Stat minor does not grant a student priority registration rights for major restricted courses. Additional information on our course restrictions and when they will be removed can be found here.
