The Department of Statistics is excited to announce that our Convocation Ceremony for all of the Undergraduate, Masters, and PhD students will be held in person. Names of all graduating students attending the ceremony will be read in order by degree.

Academic Attire
All graduates and degree candidates participating in the Statistics Convocation Ceremony are required to wear appropriate academic attire. University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign graduates must wear custom regalia designed specifically for the campus. Order deadline coming soon.
Regalia Ordering Information - (Information posted below is for the 2025 ceremony. 2026 dates will be provided soon)
January 6 (Monday)
- Student cap and gown online ordering is activated (herff.ly/illinois)
- Students will pay for rental when they place their orders
- Regalia shipped directly to students at address provided (within the U.S.).
April 14 (Monday)
- Last day for students to order regalia at the early discounted rate. Early Order Student website no longer active after 10:59pm Central Time. (Shipping is $15.95 for orders placed by this date.)
April 15 (Tuesday) thru April 29 (Tuesday)
- Regular pricing student website activated
- Student regalia ordered between April 9 and April 24 will ship 2nd Day Air to ensure delivery. (Shipping is $24.95 for orders placed during this timeframe.)
April 29 (Tuesday)
- Student order website no longer active after 10:59pm Central Time
- Last day for students to cancel orders by contacting Patty Storie at 314-369-6668 or pattystorie@att.net
May 14 (Wednesday)–May 18 (Sunday)
- Herff Jones provides last-minute regalia assistance while supplies last at Memorial Stadium, East Side. Cash (preferred) or credit card (no checks accepted)
- Regalia pick-up and return hours:
- May 14 and May 15, 9am-6pm
- May 16, 9am-8pm
- May 17, 7am-9pm
- May 18, 7am-9pm
- Regalia may be returned via the prepaid shipping label or Memorial Stadium, East Side immediately following the ceremonies. There will be no in-person pick-up or returns available after these dates.

- Students and faculty who are participating in multiple ceremonies should keep their regalia to wear it in all ceremonies they are participating in throughout Commencement season.
Student Ordering Information
- The student order website will convert from early discounted pricing to regular pricing at 10:59pm Central Time on April 14. Regular pricing will be available online April 15 - 29
- Students who did not order prior to the deadline must go to the Herff Jones booth at Memorial Stadium, East Side. There is no guarantee that regalia will be available, but Herff Jones makes every effort to assist. Please do not call the Department Office or Commencement Office regarding missed order deadlines; simply go the Herff Jones booth at Memorial Stadium East Side or contact Patty Storie at 314-369-6668 or pattystorie@att.net. Gowns available for late order pick-up are limited, students and faculty are encouraged contact Patty prior to arriving at Memorial Stadium.
Student Payment
- Students pay for their regalia online when they place their order. Cancel by contacting Patty Storie no later than April 29
- No online cancellations.

Ceremony Information/FAQ
Registration to participate in the Convocation Ceremony begins February 9 and runs through May 1.
Guest Information
The ARC Gymnasium will open for guests at 4:30 p.m., and doors will close to guests at 5:20 p.m. to allow graduates to enter the facility prior to the processional. We would like to remind guests to respect all of the graduates by holding applause until after all names are read, so that no names are missed. We also ask you remain in your seats during the ceremony. Professional pictures are available, and students will receive information by email.

When/Where Should I Arrive?
Graduates should report to the ARC by 4:30 p.m. to check-in and line up. The check-in desk closes at 5:15 p.m.
Guests should arrive between 4:30 p.m.– 5:15 p.m. at the ARC.
What Should I Bring to the Ceremony?
Graduates should arrive wearing their regalia (including the white tassel, and not the souvenir orange and blue tassel) and will receive their reader card upon check-in.
*****All other personal items (backpacks, cameras, purses, etc.) should be left in your vehicle or with relatives or friends. We do not have a secure location for you to leave these items during the ceremony.*****
Note to Graduates
After you have registered to attend our ceremony, please complete the appropriate questionnaire prior to the ceremony.
Photographer

The Department of Statistics coordinates with professional photographers to take pictures during the ceremony. Following the ceremony there may be a photographer taking pictures of students with the graduation speaker, department head, and other staff outside of the venue.
Student Pictures: GradImages® will take pictures of all graduating students as they walk across the stage and receive their diploma cover. Students should ensure their contact information is on the back of their reader card, and GradImages® will send students an email with information on the pictures and a link to view. GradImages® pictures are for purchase.
***Due to high traffic and GradImages® taking photos, we encourage family and friends of graduates to remain seated during the entire ceremony. Anyone who tries to come up to the stage will be escorted back to his or her seat.***
Additional Student Information
Additional information on certifying your degree and diplomas is below. At our Convocation Ceremony, you will receive a diploma cover. Your diploma will be mailed at a later date.
University-wide Commencement Ceremony Information
The University-wide Commencement Ceremony will be held May 16, 2026, 9:30 a.m. at Memorial Stadium. Information about the University-wide Commencement Ceremony and other related information (including congratulatory ceremonies and special receptions) may be found on the Commencement website: commencement.illinois.edu.
