Statistics MS Ambassadors are current master’s students who represent the Department of Statistics and our MS program in various capacities. Ambassadors serve as student representatives and points of contact for prospective, admitted, and current MS students, offering insight into coursework, registration, and the graduate student experience at Illinois.
MS Ambassadors are expected to demonstrate strong academic standing, familiarity with the MS curriculum, and engagement with the department and graduate student community.
Duties and Benefits
Statistics MS Ambassadors are expected to contribute in the following ways:
- Assist with prospective and admitted student events, including visits, information sessions, and Q&A opportunities.
- Represent the MS program at new student orientations and onboarding activities.
- Communicate with prospective and current students via email or other platforms to share perspectives from current or more senior MS students.
- Provide student insights and feedback related to registration, course selection, and course content.
Serving as a Statistics MS Ambassador offers several professional and personal benefits, including:

- Experience representing an academic program in recruitment and outreach settings.
- Increased engagement with faculty, staff, and fellow graduate students.

Application Information
The Department of Statistics invites applications from MS students who will be continuing in the program and who began the MS program in or before Fall 2025. The department also welcomes nominations from students or faculty. Application deadline is Tuesday, January 20.
