FAQ
- Do I need to participate in MRES program to register for STAT 590?
To register for STAT 590, you need to have a STAT faculty who’s willing to work with you during the corresponding semester for STAT 590. If both parties agree, you do not need to apply for MRES program. MRES program is to give both students and faculty members more chances to find each other.
- I’m a new student at the University of Illinois. Can I participate in MRES as an incoming student or is it advisable to participate next semester onwards?
New incoming master students have many other responsibilities in their first semester to lay a foundation for a successful career here. If you believe you have already completed courses similar to STAT 410 and STAT 425, you are welcome to apply to MRES.
- What are my chances of getting an invitation to participate in MRES?
It’s hard to say what one individual’s chances of getting in because it depends on the pool of all applicants and the number of positions. My advice is to select your schedule for the coming semester as if you will not participate in MRES but have a backup plan if you do get in and need to shuffle some classes because of the added responsibility
