Statistics doctoral student Jun Hee Kim recently presented collaborative research with Adrian Burgos, Jr., Shen Yan, Ryan To, and Daniel J. Eck of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign at the 2026 Sabermetrics, Scouting, and the Science of Baseball (Saberseminar), held August 29–30 in Chicago. Following the conference, FanGraphs writer Ben Clemens highlighted the team’s research, Context-Adjusted Statistics for Negro League Players via Full House Modeling, as one of five presentations that stood out to him, noting its innovative approach to putting baseball statistics from different eras—including the Negro Leagues—into historical context.
