The Department of Statistics at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is seeking applications for multiple full-time, 9-month Lecturer and Instructor positions as part of a revised and extended search. These career-oriented, teaching-focused roles offer exciting opportunities to support the department’s rapidly growing programs in statistics, statistics & computer science, and data science.

Key Areas of Instructional Need
While candidates from all teaching backgrounds will be considered, priority areas include:

  • Introductory statistics
  • Data science
  • Machine learning
  • Data and software engineering
  • Statistical applications involving big data

Instructors and Lecturers will play a central role in coordinating and teaching Data Science labs and undergraduate courses. Candidates should bring strong Python skills and a passion for high-quality instruction.

Position Details

  • Instructor: Requires a Master’s degree in statistics or a related field
  • Lecturer: Requires a PhD in statistics or a related field
  • Both positions come with a clear track for promotion and professional development, and teaching experience at the undergraduate (and possibly graduate) level is expected.

Anticipated start date: August 16, 2025
Salary ranges:

  • Instructor: $70,000 – $80,000
  • Lecturer: $80,000 – $90,000
