Statistics-PhD student, Wenzhuo Zhou is a recipient of the 2022 MassMutual Student Research Award from the New England Statistical Society (NESS). Zhou’s paper, titled “Estimating Optimal Infinite Horizon Dynamic Treatment Regimes via pT-Learning”, was one of ten papers selected from over 170 submissions. Zhou is advised by University of Illinois Professor Ruoqing Zhu and Professor Annie Qu of the University of California, Irvine. Zhou's research interests include Reinforcement Learning, Recommender Systems, and Dynamic Treatment Regimes. 

Award winners were honored at the 35th New England Statistics Symposium held from May 22-25 on the University of Connecticut (UConn) campus. As an annual event, the symposium has been bringing together statisticians from all over New England and beyond to a central location to share research, discuss emerging issues in the field, and network with colleagues since it was first started at UConn in 1987.
