Department of Statistics PhD student, Joshua Loyal, has been selected for the 2021 International Society for Bayesian Analysis (ISBA) Best Student/Postdoc Contributed Paper Award, which is sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF). Loyal’s paper, titled: An Eigenmodel for Dynamic Multilayer Networks was presented at the 2021 ISBA World Meeting held from June 28 through July 02, 2021.

“The work develops a Bayesian model for analyzing the co-evolution of multiple relations between actors,” Loyal said about his paper. “Application areas include international relations and epidemiology.”

Loyal collaborated with his research advisor, Professor Yuguo Chen, and a Sandia National Laboratories research group for his award winning paper.

Loyal will begin his fifth year in the Statistics-PhD program effective Fall 2021 term.
