It’s easy to apply! Submit an online application — there’s no commitment or fee involved. You can decide to accept or decline the lease offer online when it is emailed to you. Anyone interested in viewing a University Apartment can come to the Family & Graduate Housing office on a business day between 9:00am and 4:00pm. If you are interested in viewing a specific type of apartment, please call the office in advance to determine if we have a vacancy in that specific type of apartment. Only vacant apartments are shown so depending on the time of year, choice of apartment types available for viewing may be limited. The graduate upper-division halls, Daniels Hall and Sherman Hall, offer welcoming, diverse communities, with great amenities and convenient locations. These halls house undergraduates who are sophomores or above, as well as graduate and professional students.
The graduate upper-division halls do not close over fall, winter, or spring breaks. In addition to academic year contracts, Daniels Hall also offers summer housing and 12-month contract options. Room types consists of single and double rooms with private and semi-private (shared) bathroom options. Meal plans are available but not required. All rooms are air-conditioned with loftable furniture and in-room wireless. A combination microwave/refrigerator is included in every room. Each resident has access to shared study spaces, 24-hour front desk, laundry room, 24-hour quiet hours, vending machines, computer lab and individual-use bathrooms.
It’s easy to apply and Graduate Students receive priority. Submit an online contract and you will be assigned a space based on your preference and space availability. For those preferring off-campus living arrangements, privately owned housing is plentiful in Champaign and Urbana. Anyone unfamiliar with standard leasing practices should visit the Tenant Union to learn more about lease agreements.

Privately Owned Housing: Search the Housing Explorer. Students seeking privately owned housing are urged to visit the campus as early as possible, because arrangements for this type of accommodation usually are made in person. This communication tool is provided as a service to new and current University Housing Apartment residents seeking a roommate (co-tenant) within the University Apartments. Roommates must be affiliated with the University of Illinois, each have their own University Apartment lease, and live in a two-bedroom apartment at the Orchard Downs or Ashton Woods apartment complex.
